Agricultural practices comprise a major chunk of livelihood in this region, COI in collaboration with Heifer International has launched farmers education as well as livestock projects. Goat breeding programs which includes skills in animal husbandry and introduction of improved farming methods. Innovative Horticulture practices and management.

Heifer International is partnering in implementing these projects in orissa region. There are six local partners who are part of our team and they help in implementing in various districts of Orissa.


Empowerment & Livelihood Project Through Bothar in Uttaranchal :

Uttaranchal is newly carved state out of UP and sharing borders with Nepal. The Tharu tribes living in this region is backward and does agricultural through the traditional methods. COI is helping 350 families in this region with the help of Bothar an organization that is involved in providing livestock and also help in improved horticultural and agricultural practices through various kinds of trainings to the farmers.

Children aging five to twelve years from a Community church provided 40 goats to 20 families in this region in 2006. We will be initiating the “passing of the Gifts” to another 20 families this winter in 2007.
